Meet Eat and Drink held its first ‘Networking For People In Digital And Tech’ at The Allegory in Shoreditch.
Shaper is a networking app which has been established for a year and a half. It’s powered by an algorithm that tags interests, location, and professional experience and suggests ten to fifteen profiles of people to meet each day matching people with common professional interests.
After connecting with nine people via Shapr, rather than meeting up one on one, a small group was formed and an event and venue arranged through WhatsApp.
Talented attendees included a digital photographer, a photographer and videographer, a WordPress developer, digital agency owner, lifestyle and restaurant blogger and an IT consultant who is in the process of creating an app for the private residential sector.
It was great to bounce ideas off one another and I felt we all learned a lot in such a short space of time. Topics discussed included photography, video post-production and mobile apps. We compared the best tools to use and as a result, I will be testing out Adobe Premier for video editing. We also discussed the various things to consider when creating a mobile app such as the size of an app and making it environmentally friendly with not too many background processes.
I guess with all these newfangled apps, it’s what you make it. I feel it’s always good in life to come together with people you have common ground with as there is a familiarity and you will also learn something new or maybe develop new business relationships and create new opportunities.

The Allegory is a nice venue and comes highly recommended as a perfect venue for a small networking group as noise levels are good as well a great selection of drinks and comfy seating areas.
