A small group of art school friends decided a visit to Sistels Southern France would be the perfect opportunity to catch up with an old college friend who has moved to the region.
Sistels is a commune in the Tarn-et-Garonne Occitanie farming region of Southern France.
Our friends house is surrounded by fields where they grow sunflowers and wheat. The area is peaceful with few surrounding farms nearby.
Our short stay was filled with lovely adventures including a trip to the Brocante which is housed in a former hospital in the medieval city of Lectoure. This has to be one of the best markets I have been to in my life sublime antiques and a beautiful venue.
The town itself is also very charming with a chic rustic air. There are plenty of antique shops, cafes and bars and a great place to have ice cream is Le Cochon Bleu.
After the Brocante a much welcomed cooling off visit to the local Piscine à Fleurance was where we spent our afternoon. Showering is obligatory before you go into the pool and when you come out. A lively atmosphere here but it shuts early so get your swimming in whilst you can.
During our short stay we were mesmerised by the beauty and scenery of Sistels and the surrounding villages.
We also took time to chill out with our friends five cats and dog Harvey and our friend and art tutor Livs gave us all an impromptu art lesson where we all created watercolours. My subject was regal looking cat Seb.
Our hosts also treated us to wonderful home cooked meals including a delicious aubergine bake.
We had a lovely stay in Sistels and would love to visit the region again.
